2016-2017 Kindergarten Sign-Up

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time for you and your child and we want the sign-up process to go as smoothly as possible for your family.

Your child must be five years old on or before Sept. 15 to be eligible. Find the information you need to complete enrollment below.

DO YOU ALREADY HAVE CHILDREN ATTENDING A DMPS SCHOOL OR PRESCHOOL?

Parents or guardians who already have a child or children attending a DMPS school or preschool may sign-up at their neighborhood school Wednesday, April 20, from 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST CHILD TO ATTEND DMPS?

Families who are new to Des Moines Public Schools can sign-up in one of the following ways:

• Visit the Welcome Center, 1301 2nd Ave., beginning Feb. 15 any business day between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
• For your convenience, the Welcome Center will offer extended hours on Wed., April 20 from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Everyone is required to bring the following documents to kindergarten sign-ups:

• Birth certificate;
• Resident verification (two of the following items: rental or purchase agreement, valid photo identification, utility bill);
• Immunization records.
