If you are newly experiencing homelessness, your first step should be to contact Polk County Centralized Intake.

Centralized Intake at PHC is the entry point for persons experiencing homelessness in Polk County. It is a collaborative effort of more than 30 community organizations.

PHC’s Centralized Intake case managers meet with clients, conduct an assessment, and link them to programs or services based on their needs. Walk ins only, no appointments.

Anawim housing Anawim Housing is the largest provider of Permanent Supportive Housing in the state of Iowa. Managing over 536 housing units, Anawim provides stable housing to 380 individuals who have experienced homelessness and live with a mental illness, substance use disorder, physical disability, diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, or are fleeing domestic violence, and 1,200 individuals as a whole we are currently serving.
Home Inc. Provides renter and homeownership supports which include rental handbook, crisis counseling services, maintenance, repair and eviction resources.
Iowa Legal Aid Provides legal assistance for those facing evictions and other housing issues.
IMPACT LIHEAP energy assistance, food assistance, housing assistance and more.
MediaCom The Affordable Connectivity Program (the ACP) is a federal benefit program designed to help low-income household connect to the Internet The benefit provides a discount up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households.
