I received my associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Marshalltown Community College in 2011. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish in 2013. I started my career at Des Moines Public Schools in 2014 at Capitol View Elementary. While at Capitol View, I served as their Bilingual Community Schools Coordinator and Office Manager. In 2021, I found my new home at McKinley as the Office Manager.
I live in Ankeny with my husband, Juan, and our two sons, Ryan and Liam. I enjoy shopping, dancing, swimming, organizing my house, binge watching movies and TV series, and playing board games with my boys.
Tina Epp
I received my Masters of Social Work from the University of Iowa and my License to practice Social Work from the State in 2020. I began my career with DMPS as an intern for the Community Schools program at North High School in 2018. I then worked for the Metro Kids program in 2019 and 2020. I began working at McKinley as a Community Schools Coordinator in August of 2021.
I live with my husband, Noah and our two dogs, Walter and Mia. I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, and seeing live music.
Robbie Harnden
I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2006. After college, I was a 911 Dispatcher for 10 years before leaving to study Spanish Education and TESOL at Colorado State University. I have taught ESL classes for the last 5 years, primarily to international students. I started my career with DMPS as a substitute teacher, serving as a long-term sub with McKinley during the 2021-22 school year. I loved it so much I decided to come back full time in the library!
I live in Des Moines with my husband, daughter and our many pets. I enjoy reading, playing games, traveling, fishing and going on bike rides and hikes with my family!
Lindsey Hoodjer
Graduated from Iowa State University.
I enjoy spending time with my family, outdoor activities, cooking, sporting events, reading and learning new things.
Stacy Satterstrom
This is my 6th year working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Des Moines. I currently work with children 3-years old through 8th grade at schools on the southside of Des Moines. Prior to moving to Des Moines, I was a school-based SLP in the Chicago area for 10 years. I am a graduate of Marquette University(B.S. – speech pathology and audiology ’05) and Southern Illinois University(M.S. speech-language pathology ’07).
When away from school, I spend my time with my husband and our 3 young daughters, who keep us pretty busy! We enjoy riding our bikes on the DM trails, attending concerts and sporting events, traveling, and spending time with our families and friends.
Jenny Weissenburger
I attended Mercy College of Health Sciences for my registered nurse degree and Chamberlain College for my Bachelors of Science in a nursing. I’ve worked at DMPS since 2014 and plan to continue doing so many years to come.
I am a mom to 3 children, one is a college student at UNI and the other two are twins. I love pets! I have 3 kitties and an awesome dog named Hunny. I’ve been a nurse since 2005 working with children is my passion. I love working with students and their families and forming life long bonds.
